Welcome to the DLBT

Welcome to the DLBT

The Digital Library and Bibliography of Literature in Translation (DLBT), based on PHAIDRA, is a database and infrastructure facilitating access to translations and research on the complex relationships between original works of literature and their translations and between translations and their cultural contexts.

By bringing together translations and their reception documents in one digital collection, the catalogue and the website of the Digital Library and Bibliography of Literature in Translation facilitate the access to translated works of literature.

The database does not only present the digitised content and bibliographic metadata of the translations, but also their material characteristics (book covers, illustrations, etc.) and afterlife in public discourse.

The Digital Library and Bibliography of Literature in Translation also includes adaptations in other media, such as film or theatre. This inclusion shows that cultural transfer is at work in the circulation of literature in translation and makes this phenomenon better traceable.

You can create your own statistics and visualise the connections between the various actors in the literary field of the World Republic of Letters.

As the DLBT is a collective and collaborative effort, we welcome your suggestions for additions and corrections.
